If stress tends to tighten your shoulders and restrict your breathing, this short audio lesson can help. In just 10 minutes, this gentle, lying-down practice will ease tension in your shoulders, creating comfort and a sense of spaciousness that supports deeper, freer breathing.
In this mini-session, we’ll explore small, mindful movements with your arm and shoulder. By releasing built-up tension, you may find more room to breathe and feel more relaxed overall. It’s a simple way to release tension before it becomes painful or shifts your mood. Try it first thing in the morning or at the end of your day.
This lesson will start in side-lying on your left side, with your hips and knees bent at 90 degrees. One leg is stacked on top of the other.
What you'll need:
A mat to lie on the floor
A folded towel or firm support for your head (to avoid neck strain)
Another towel or blanket between your knees for cushioning (optional)
How to get the most out of this lesson:
Move gently, allowing your body to explore each motion slowly.
There’s no need to do reps—just follow your body’s pace.
Stop and rest if anything feels uncomfortable.
Let the lesson unfold at your own pace, without worrying about doing it "right."
Trust that, through these variations, you’re reconnecting with your body’s natural intelligence.
Before we begin, let's do a quick body scan in standing to notice how you're feeling right now:
Stand up and take a moment to check in with yourself:
How do you feel from head to toe?
How do your shoulders feel—are they equal in height, or does one feel higher or lower than the other?
How is your breathing?
Notice these sensations, as they’ll serve as a comparison once you've finished the lesson.
